Until now, wooden windows have been seen as inadequate in blast-resistant environments. But recent tests using our patented Keep safe system® prove otherwise: it’s fully possible to combine the natural beauty and cost-efficiency of wood with advanced explosion protection. This is a breakthrough that redefines what’s possible.
Keep safe system® – our patented safety solution for doors, windows and façades – has already delivered exceptional results in blast tests with steel profiles. Now, we’ve successfully tested the system with wooden frames.
In recently conducted blast tests, we subjected two wooden windows – a single window and a double window with a center mullion – to powerful explosions. The tests were carried out in accordance with EN 13123-2:2004 (2.3 bar, EXR2), an internationally recognized standard for explosion resistance.
The results were striking: both units withstood the blast without any damage to the wooden frame and without splintering on the inside (NS – Non-Splintering).

This opens up a whole new category of secure construction solutions, where wooden windows, reinforced with Keep safe system®, are now a real option for high-security buildings.
– “Wood has never been a candidate for blast-resistant design – it would simply splinter. This is a major leap forward, and it expands the range of materials we can safely build with,” says Ulf Isaksson, CEO.

With Keep safe system®, wooden frames become a complementary alternative to steel and aluminum in buildings with stringent security demands. This could make a real difference for both new constructions and renovations – for example, in residential buildings where safety requirements are increasing.
– “Offering blast-resistant wooden windows is a game-changer. It gives architects, developers, and contractors a whole new toolset, where safety doesn’t have to come at the expense of design or budget,” says Ulf Isaksson.
As threat scenarios evolve and safety demands rise, the need for smart and sustainable solutions is greater than ever. Keep safe system® is paving the way for the next generation of protected buildings – and setting a new standard for the industry.
